ABOUT ME
My name is Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, and I was the second owner of the LEGO Group. As owner, I developed and patented the design of the LEGO brick as we know it today. I developed a set of rules to define the LEGO system in play, creating the LEGO brand we know today, and phasing out the wood-based generic toy company of old. It was my idea to create the first LEGOLAND, and I even played a major part in building the Billund Airport to bring visitors to LEGOLAND. Overall, I believe I had the biggest impact in making LEGO what it is today, and through that I have secured eminence.

“We know our idea is a good one. We want only the best … we must make better bricks from even better material on even better machinery. We must get the best people that money can buy for our company.”
Ever since I was young, my father instilled in me a drive for quality and craftsmanship in my work. He held himself and those around him to a high standard, even though we only made children's toys. That high standard can be attributed to much of my accomplishments, like further developing the design of the LEGO brick to make it more practical and effective. You can learn more about the events that shaped my eye for quality in the beginning of my life timeline below.
